During our cruise of Northern Europe in September we stopped in Hamburg. My uncle and I went on a trip of the town which included a stop for the lunchtime service/meditation at the Lutheran church, St Michaelis Kirche.
It was a series of readings/thoughts (although it was not in English) inter-dispersed by 3 Organ pieces, one of each of the 3 organs.
In fact the church has 5 organs in total. 1 in the crypt, 3 in the main church and one in the roof-space, ‘Fernwerk’. The Fernwerk is, at the moment being restored and so was not in use.
The church is where CPE Bach is buried and the newest of the 3 main organs is dedicated to him.
Quite an experience.
